How to make requests and offers. Making recommendations.

Assessment
This 30-hour course is designed
and targeted for English
language teachers who wish
to develop their assessment
competence and skills in order
to better measure and promote
their students English language
abilities. The course will focus
on the development of English
language teachers’ assessment
literacy, which includes
knowledge of key assessment
principles, and skill in creating
or adopting assessment
tools and procedures for the
language classroom



Basic TEFL
Program
The Basic TEFL program is
intended for individuals who plan
to teach English in a short-term
capacity. It has been designed to
provide the essential foundations
in language teaching theory,
methodology and practical
classroom application. The
course combines asynchronous
power point presentations,
discussions and application
activities with synchronous chat
forums and streaming video clips
of actual ESL teaching.



Advanced TEFL
Program
The Advanced TEFL program
is intended for those who have
completed the 30-hour Basic
and 20-hour Practicum, or for
in-service teachers with two
or more years of experience
and at least 30 hours
training equivalent to a TEFL
Certificate. It provides advanced
coursework in instructional
methods and classroom
management techniques.



Pedagogical
Grammar
This is a 30-hour online
course designed to both
refresh in-service teachers’
knowledge of grammar
and to provide ideas and
methods for teaching it.
The modules are focused
on specific forms, functions
and use of the English
language with practical
applications of how to
teach it.








Lesson Planning and Classroom Management

Course summary:

Learn the skills you need to successfully plan and teach motivating language lessons.

Suitable for:

Teachers with some classroom experience who want to revise and extend their skills in this area






The tasks in this course are classroom-based, it is therefore more likely to be useful if you are currently teaching.



You should already have:
  • English at B2 level or higher What’s this?
  • basic knowledge of the materials, tasks and activities typically used to help learners understand and use English
  • confidence in the learner-centred approach, and a desire to plan lessons that maximise student involvement
  • (ideally) some experience of formal lesson planning and observation

Awards:

You will be awarded a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.

Aims:

By the end of the course you should be able to:
  • write formal lesson plans with clear aims and measurable outcomes
  • confidently employ  effective classroom management strategies
  • successfully plan and teach lessons in accordance with recommended best practice

Methods:

 self-study

The tasks within this course encourage you to try new approaches in the classroom and reflect upon the outcomes.

To successfully complete the course, you will be required to:
  • check your progress and understanding, through a range of interactive activities
  • participate in discussion forums with other teachers
  • keep a learner journal

An end-of-course quiz will provide feedback on your progress and suggest areas for revision, where appropriate.

Course duration:

About 10 hours; 10 units.

You have 3 days  to complete the course.

  • Unit 9: How to create an effective learning environment
  • Unit 10: Planning a series of lessons
